Cornish, Maine Boudoir Photographer // What Is Your Boudoir Inspiration

There’s a lot that goes into getting ready for your boudoir photo shoot. There’s the obvious stuff, like getting to go shopping for the perfect outfit, deciding how your want your hair and makeup, or simply getting enough sleep the night before your session. But the reality is, if our visions of your session don’t jive, then that perfect outfit doesn’t really mean too much. What was your first inspiration for wanting to do your shoot? Was it a picture that you saw on Pinterest, or maybe something that you saw in a magazine, classic vs editorial?? This is so important to me to make sure that you get the style of photos that you envisioned in your head.

Part of the preparation for your boudoir session is picking out inspiration pictures to show me exactly what your vision is for your session. This means that you get to scour the internet or Pinterest to find pictures that inspired you to have a boudoir shoot to begin with. I love it when clients give me a ton of inspiration for their shoot. The more that they give me, the more I understand what they want. I mean, sure, you can just say, dark and moody, but that can mean a number of things and can be rendered differently from person to person. Obviously, I’m a visual person and having visual examples of what you want is ideal for me and for you. Shared vision is very important to the outcome of your session.

So go nuts! Send me all the pictures! But most importantly, start looking for THE picture that made you think, “I want to do a boudoir session!” I can’t wait to see what we come up with!
