Cornish Maine Boudoir Photographer // Some of My Favorite Boudoir Session of 2024 (That I Can Post...)
Every boudoir session brings something new, and some clients truly leave a mark on me. This year, two incredible women reminded me of the strength, beauty, and resilience that boudoir can uncover. Cassy and Lori each approached their sessions for deeply personal reasons, and I feel grateful to have been a part of their journeys.
Cassy is no stranger to my studio – this was her third session with me. Every time she books a session, I’m reminded of how much I admire her spirit. Cassy has faced her share of health struggles, and with that has come fluctuations in her weight. Before her session, she reached out, expressing some hesitation because she hadn’t yet reached her “ideal” weight. We chatted, and by the end of our conversation, she decided to move forward, trusting that we’d create something magical, regardless of her size. That trust is something I never take for granted.
Knowing this session had to be distinct from her previous ones, we decided to shake things up a bit. We played with bold, moody lighting to bring a new level of drama to her images. Cassy didn’t just show up – she owned it. There’s an undeniable energy she brings every time; she laughs at herself, makes jokes, and fully leans into each pose. Watching her confidence unfold as we shot felt like watching someone truly come into their own, shedding all those pesky doubts. Cassy is a natural, and honestly, she barely needs any direction from me. Every click captured her inner strength and beauty, and I hope she saw even a hint of what I see in her.
Lori’s story is different, but no less powerful. She came to me at a pivotal moment in her life, using boudoir as a step toward healing from her recent divorce. The breakup left her feeling disconnected from the woman she once knew herself to be – strong, self-assured, and beautiful. Lori is one of those no-nonsense, funny, and down-to-earth women who just lights up the room. From the moment she walked in, I could tell we’d have an amazing time.
There was a bit of extra pressure on my end; I wanted Lori to leave our session feeling like she’d reconnected with herself. We shared laughs, swapped stories, and really got to know each other, which made the session feel like a comfortable, safe space. Each shot felt like a step in her journey of rediscovering her self-worth. I hope the images reflect the beautiful, resilient woman she is.
Both of these sessions reminded me why I love boudoir so much. It’s not just about creating stunning images – it’s about capturing the person behind them, showing them their beauty even when they can’t see it themselves. Whether it’s a returning client like Cassy or someone stepping into the studio for the first time, like Lori, boudoir is a journey. I’m just glad to be along for the ride, helping these remarkable women see themselves in a whole new light.
