Maine & New Hampshire Boudoir Studio// Jenna // Classic Boudoir Shoot
When Jenna reached out to me for a boudoir session, I immediately knew this shoot was going to be epic. She had seen another client's photos and was blown away by the dark and moody vibe. There’s something about the contrast of shadows and light that draws people in, especially when it comes to capturing the intimate, raw beauty of boudoir.
From the moment Jenna got on my schedule, we dove into the details. She loves lingerie and had already picked out a few pieces, but we worked together to curate a variety of looks for her session. I suggested the essentials—a classic bra and panty set for a timeless feel, a tankini-style bra for something a bit different, something with an unique back and a bodysuit to add something a little different. She went all out with her shopping, and we had a great time bouncing ideas back and forth. I could tell she was excited about creating something unique.
On the day of the shoot, Jenna arrived looking stunning already—but with hair and makeup, she transformed into even more stunning-er. Jenna, being a talented hair and makeup artist herself, collaborated with Jess, one of my go-to hair and makeup girls. They both agreed on a bold, dramatic eye to enhance Jenna’s naturally dark features, and what they created was absolute perfection.
The shoot itself? Flawless. Jenna showed up with her outfits and switched things up between each set, which gave us a ton of variety. She was so confident infront of the camera, it made my job almost too easy. We started with some fun poses on the floor (and by fun, I mean painfully arching her back and pointing her toes to the point of cramping. The one thing no one will tell you about a boudoir session. lol), where the light hit her just right, casting those deep shadows that give that moody look. We worked our way around the studio to all of my different sets. And then, we ended with my current favorite—the wet set. There's something incredibly powerful about those images, the way the water clings to the skin and the light dances across it. Jenna was a natural.
When it came time for her reveal, Jenna had a hard time narrowing down her favorites—which is always the best compliment as a photographer. In the end, we selected a stunning collection for her album, and I cannot wait for her to see them printed.
Jenna's session reminded me of why I love doing what I do. Every shoot is a collaboration, a journey, and the result is something that’s as much about the experience as it is about the final images.
