Cornish Maine Boudoir Photographer // Why I Don't Offer A Client Closet For My Boudoir Sessions
As a boudoir photographer, I understand the appeal of a client closet. It can be tempting to offer a selection of lingerie for clients to wear during their photoshoots. However, I have made the decision not to offer a client closet for a few different reasons.
Sharing underwear is simply not hygienic. It’s kind of gross actually. To think about multiple women wearing the same lingerie, even if it has been washed between uses. Maybe it’s just me. I know that disinfectant detergent is available, but the risk of spreading bacteria or other infections is simply too great.
Another reason why I don't offer a client closet is that lingerie that doesn't fit properly isn't flattering. When it comes to boudoir photography, fit is everything. Laying down can cause gaps in your bra if it doesn’t fit properly, and that can be very unflattering in your photos.
I know from personal experience. During my own boudoir session, I wore cheap lingerie that didn't fit perfectly, and I can see that in my pictures. It wasn’t flattering and it just didn’t sit on my body right. I regret not taking the time to be professionally fitted for lingerie before my session. I always tell my clients to consider lingerie shopping for their session part of the pampering experience, because it really is!
Ultimately, I want my clients to look and feel their absolute best during their boudoir photoshoot. That's why I encourage them to be professionally fitted for lingerie, and to bring their own outfits to the session. By doing so, they can ensure that their lingerie fits perfectly, and they can feel confident and beautiful during their photoshoot.
