Cornish MAINE Boudoir Photographer // The Importance of Photo Shoot Preparation
As a boudoir photographer, it’s my job to make sure that you arrive to your photo shoot feeling amazing and prepared. I walk my clients through every step of the process to make sure they get off on the right foot for their pictures. From helping pick out outfits to educating them of the whole process ahead of time, I’m here to guide you every step of the way! To ensure that you feel confident and comfortable during your boudoir shoot, here are some tips to help you prepare:
Plan ahead, spend the money and buy good fitting lingerie. A lot of the times this means not even considering the cheap stuff. I know that it’s so tempting to buy 1,000 outfits off of Shein for $1, but it doesn't matter if you saved money if your outfit looks bad. Take the time to choose lingerie that fits you well and makes you feel sexy. Avoid lingerie that is too tight or too loose, as this can be unflattering in photos. The most issues arise with an ill-fitting bra cup! Get fitted if needed. Really. If you're unsure about your size, get fitted by a professional. Wearing lingerie that fits well will help you feel more comfortable and confident during your session.
Please, please, for the love of god, do not get a spray tan before your session. Many people think that a spray tan will make them look more toned and sexy in photos, but it can actually end up looking streaky and orange. Stick to your natural skin tone for the best results.
I know that this one is tough. Most women are super nervous before their session, but try to get a good night's sleep. Being well-rested will help you feel more relaxed and energized during your session. Avoid staying up late the night before, and try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep.
Moisturize and then moisturize again. Then drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin looks healthy and glowing in photos. Make sure to drink plenty of fluids and moisturize your skin before your session, and bring extra lotion with you to touch up throughout the day.
Wear loose-fitting clothing to your session. Tight clothing can leave marks on your skin, which can be difficult to edit out of photos. Opt for loose-fitting clothing that won't leave any marks.
If you have professional hair and makeup, show up with clean, dry hair and a clean, moisturized face. This will help your hair and makeup artist work more efficiently, and ensure that you look your best in your photos.
By following these tips, you'll be well-prepared for your boudoir shoot and able to relax and enjoy the experience. Remember, the most important thing is to feel confident and comfortable in your own skin.
