Cornish Maine Boudoir Photographer// What NOT To Do Before Your Boudoir Session
As a boudoir photographer, I’ve seen it all. From the good, the bad, to the not-so-great decisions made by my clients. While I can work some photographic magic, there are certain things that clients can do that make my job a lot more difficult. So, if you’re planning a boudoir shoot, here are some things that you should avoid doing prior to the shoot.
First and foremost, do not drink a lot of alcohol on the day of or party hard the night before. While a glass of wine can help calm your nerves, excessive drinking can lead to a bloated, puffy appearance that will not flatter you in your photos. Trust me, sloppy drunk or massively hungover, don’t photograph pretty.
Secondly, do not spray tan. For the love of all that is mighty, DO NOT SPRAY TAN. I know that I’ve said this before but it really looks like shit. Not only can it look patchy and uneven, but it can also stain your lingerie and even my studio. Stick to your natural skin tone. Pasty pale is better than looking like a streaky Oompa Loompa.
Thirdly, do not pick outfits that you don’t love. You have no idea how many women come into the studio with an outfit and they are like, “I want to love this outfit, but I don’t love how it looks on me!” It’s like WWHHAATTT? Why bring it. It’s important to feel confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing. If you’re not feeling it, it will show in your photos. Take your time to select outfits that accentuate your best features and make you feel sexy.
Fourthly, do not get a daring new haircut or color. While it’s great to experiment with new looks, a drastic change right before your boudoir shoot can lead to regret and disappointment. Stick to a style that you know and love so that you can focus on feeling confident and comfortable.
Lastly, do not get down on yourself. You are already nervous enough about your shoot without adding any extra pressure on yourself. Remember that I’m here to guide you and make you feel beautiful. Trust me and trust the process. With a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace your inner goddess, your boudoir shoot will be a success.
