Cornish Maine Boudoir Photographer // Why You Should Do A Boudoir Photoshoot

So either you have already decided to do a Boudoir Photoshoot or you’re on the fence and that’s what brought you here. Either way, everyone does these type of sessions for their own personal reasons. Don’t get me wrong, there is no real wrong reason….kind of. Let me explain.

Before you really decide, you have to know what boudoir is and what it is not. Boudoir is an art form. No its not porn or gross or anything else that your grandmother will tell that it is. You wouldn’t call the old Renaissance paintings porn, would you? If it is done right, boudoir is really is an art form. It’s portraiture that celebrates the human form in a beautiful way.

There are so many different forms of boudoir, but that is for a different blog for a different day. Personally, I specialize in classic, dark boudoir and stylized, studio boudoir. Above is classic boudoir and below is stylized boudoir. Both have captured my heart for different reasons.

So, now that you know that boudoir is not gross or porn and you know what kinds of boudoir that I specialize in, let’s chat about why women should really be interested in a boudoir session. I firmly believe that the number one reason a woman should be interested in one of these sessions is FOR THEMSELVES. One more time, louder for those of you in the back. You should only do a boudoir session because you want to, not because your significant other wants you to do one. I mean, that can be a secondary side effect to the session, but do it for yourself. So, why do it for yourself? Do the boudoir session because it is literally one of the most empowering things you will ever do. It is such a great way to gain confidence and to celebrate you and your body. Celebrate your imperfections, because we all know that no one is perfect. And who the hell would want to be! Here’s part of a quote from a review that one of my recent sessions gave me, “I felt SO beautiful and sexy , and left feeling like a new person.” This, my friends, is what doing one of these photoshoots is all about.

Upon scheduling, I have my girls fill out a questionnaire and one of the questions on there is, why. Why do they want to do this shoot? I love their responses. Whether they have lost some weight or had a baby & wanted to remind themselves that they are not just a baby making machine, but a super feminine woman, or just wanted step out of the house to pamper themselves. I love every single one of these reasons, because they all come back to the fact that these women want to celebrate themselves and that is the most amazing part of boudoir. And that is why, if you are on the fence about booking, you should do so now!
