Cornish Maine Boudoir Photographer // Boudoir Session Tips
As a boudoir photographer, I've had the privilege of guiding many individuals through the empowering journey of a boudoir photo shoot. It's a deeply personal experience, one that celebrates you in your most authentic and beautiful form. Over the years, I've collected insights that can help make your session not just comfortable, but truly transformative. Here are some essential tips to keep in mind as you prepare for your moment in front of the lens.
1. Bring Outfits That Speak to You
One of the most common misconceptions about boudoir photography is the need to invest in an entirely new lingerie wardrobe. While the allure of new silk and lace can be exciting, it's not a necessity. The most important aspect of your outfit choice is that it reflects your personality and makes you feel confident and beautiful. You should love the way it fits and flatters your curves. If you don’t love it, leave it at home.
Look through your closet for pieces that you love and feel good in. That oversized sweater you snuggle into on chilly evenings, or a band T-shirt that brings back memories of an unforgettable concert, can be perfect for your session. These pieces not only add a personal touch to your photos but also help tell your story. Remember, authenticity shines brightest, and your comfort in what you're wearing will translate into stunning, natural photographs.
2. Nude is a Powerful Outfit (and makes for amazing Fine Art Nudes)
Embracing your body in its natural state can be one of the most empowering aspects of a boudoir session. If you're comfortable with the idea, consider 'nude' as one of your outfit options. Captured tastefully, these images can be pieces of art worthy of hanging on tour walls.
3. Nerves Are Normal
Don’t panic!! Feeling nervous before your boudoir shoot is entirely normal. For many, this might be their first experience in such a vulnerable setting. However, trust me when I say that these nerves quickly dissipate once the session begins. My goal is to make you feel at ease, guiding you through poses and expressions that showcase your unique beauty. Remember, it's about celebrating you and your story. Embrace the nerves; they're simply a sign that you're stepping out of your comfort zone.
4. Rest Well Before Your Session
This might seem like a simple piece of advice, but it's one that holds significant weight. A good night's sleep before your photo shoot is crucial. Rest helps you look and feel your best, ensuring that you're energized and ready to enjoy the experience fully. Try to wind down early the night before, maybe with a relaxing bath or a good book, to ensure you're in the best possible frame of mind and body for your session.
